
Julie London (nee Peck) was an American actress and a singer who performed for over 40 years. London was a torch singer well-known for her soft, smooth vocals. She recorded more than 30 albums of jazz and pop standards between 1955 and 1969. The song she sang on "Cry me a river" which she released on her debut album was included in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001. London was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for her role in the role of Dixie McCall, a nurse on Emergency! London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. She began her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's career as an actor lasted 35 years. on film in 1944 and included roles as the female lead in numerous westerns, co-starring with Rock Hudson in The Fat Man (1951), with Robert Taylor and John Cassavetes in Saddle the Wind (1958) along together with Gary Cooper in Man of the West (1958) and together with Robert Mitchum in The Wonderful Country (1959). In the middle of the 1950s she signed a recording agreement with Liberty Records. This was the beginning of her professional music career. In 1969 she released her last studio album. However she was prominent in the emergency series in the role of Dixie McCall, a female nurse. (1972-1979) She was married to her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb, her ex-husband was the producer of the show.
