Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football with volunteer work in the community. The first line of his family was that he's the youngest out of the nine children raised by Eufala with Lucious Selmon. In football, he played with his three brothers in Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in across the country. In his time as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. Selmon was honored when the National Football Foundation named him a Scholar-Athlete for the third time in the year 1975. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in education. Lee Roy was involved in volunteering for ten hours per week throughout his college years. Then he settled in Tampa after graduation, and playing for the Buccaneers for nine years and played three times in the all-pro league. His career in business began. By 1988, he became an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of the most notable young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds when he was a student athlete. He captained the 1975 team. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as an associate director of sports. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented its Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
